Year 4 learnt about Old Testament stories of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses and examples of emotions of jealousy, sacrifice and reconciliation.
They asked important questions about why the ancestors of Jesus trusted God and followed his commands:
What was Abraham’s dilemma? How did he resolve it? Why did Abraham trust God? What does this teach you? What message is contained in this story? How would you feel if you were Abraham?
Where was baby Moses found? What circumstances surrounded his birth? Why was he saved? What happened? What is a vocation? What was the vocation of Moses? What was Moses relationship with God like? What were his feelings about being chosen and the job he was asked to do?
In year 4, we have been learning about digital imagery. We have used digital cameras to take our own pictures and then we uploaded these to our computers. We also learned to safely download images and then used photo editing software to manipulate these images. We then linked these skills to English and created a comic to link with our 'Stories from Imaginary Worlds' topic.
In Y4 we have been studying Animals during our Science work. We have been learning about different types of teeth and what different animals eat. We went to the Eco Park to look at food chains.
All of Year 4 have been learning how to play a new musical instrument. 4EH have been learning how to play the drum and 4LD/AB have been learning how to play the guitar. All of Year 4 demonstrated their musical talents in a concert for parents.
4CB spent a term learning how to play the fife before progressing to the flute in the Spring term.
They have been learning two new tunes: Stripey Cat Crawls and Thinking.
In our PE lesson today, we learnt how to dribble the football. Also, we self assessed our dribbling technique before playing small sided games.
Year 4 have learnt how to greet someone and to ask them how they are in French. They understand how to reply from a choice of responses.
Year 4 have learnt the meaning of the vocabulary of the French song
“Le Fermier dans son Pré” and acted it out in groups.
After lunch, Year 4 say a thank-you prayer to God for their food. They ask Him to help them to play and work well together.
